What is the difference between a medical detox and a psycho-spiritual ceremony? – A medical detox is done in a hospital setting, using only Ibogaine. This is typically a more extreme treatment for people who are severe active withdrawal on opiates or other severe drugs, usually there is no clean time in between the use of the drug and the start of the treatment. It is typically considered more high risk and doesn’t offer any guidance or connection to the wisdom traditions.

A psycho spiritual ceremony, the type which we hold in our retreats uses the Iboga plant, so it contains the majority of ibogaine, but also other compounds that can have profound benefits. Providing a more deep and full spectrum experience. In addition to the holy wood we also share the missoko bwiti life tools and trauma informed supervision. This is a good program to help with personal development.

Iboga or Ibogaine? Which is right for me? – Ibogaine is the principle alkaloid in the tabernanthe iboga plant. It is typically administered in a medical detox, while iboga is a full spectrum experience that contains all the compounds of the Iboga plant, it may have more health benefits and insight it is also useful for addiction, but for those who want to connect to themselves on a deeper level, process trauma, connect to nature, and to discover deeper parts of oneself. Whats the difference between Iboga and Ayahuasca? Which is right for me? Iboga is a single plant from Africa and Ayahuasca is a mix of 2 or plants typically from the Amazon. They are both beautiful medicines. Iboga tends to be more direct and grounding, but less recreational. It has a much deeper physical component and longer duration. For ayahuasca the destination is in the ceremony, there is a beautiful community element and beautiful music. A lot of attention is outward and the inward journey may be very cryptic. For Iboga the destination is an improved version of your day to day life. While we may see things in the ceremony it may just feel like work, for many its more about the sobriety and clarity we recieve after. The results tend to be deeper and longer lasting. For either of these medicines, it is important that the quality of the medicine and facilitators be ensured at the baseline.

Iboga in our style is a very individual process and many people find they uncover a lot of darkness within themselves through the music and day after ceremony, and learn the steps to break free from it. The feeling of glow is usually in the days and weeks after, while with Aya its more in the peak of the ceremony. With proper guidance Iboga can be a good stop to go back to the roots of ones existence, the guidance we recieve from the Iboga experience translates to more depth and focus in anywhere in life even Ayahuasca ceremonies. Also Iboga is more practical for microdosing. Iboga lasts much longer is more thourough, acts on more receptors and has been used for longer. Not to discredit the power and beauty of Ayahuasca. Iboga is just on its own level as a life building tool.
